Mission & Parent/Athlete Expectations

Mission & Values

Southeast Developmental Teams’ mission is to develop confidence, poise, and teamwork within athletics in young athletes in the Southeast Aurora/Metro-Denver area. We are a developmental program designed to prepare youth athletes to compete at the high school level and beyond, but first and foremost our goal is to help athletes develop a love for their chosen sport. Along with athlete development, we are equally committed to creating a sense of individual pride in the young people who partake in our program.

Value 1: All athletes have the potential to succeed in their sport

Value 2: Commitment to team is essential

Value 3: Fun and joy is the root of all individual development

Value 4: Personal and team goals cannot be achieved without hard work

Value 5: Individuals grow within a positive, supportive environment

Program Expectations

SDT is a separate entity of local school districts; therefore, there are no grade eligibility requirements for participation. However, SDT strives to mimic the academic and behavioral expectations outlined by high school teams in the Cherry Creek School District, their feeder schools, and the overall School District. We are not only committed to developing strong athletes with a sense of school spirit and pride, but also upstanding individuals who understand the value of education and therefore success in the classroom. The Southeast Developmental Teams program expects athletes to put forth their best effort in all areas of life, including:

1.     Academics and school

2.     Behavior in school and the community

3.     Relationships with peers, teammates, and adults

4.     Practices, games, competitions, performances, etc. (depending on the sport)

If it is deemed athletes are not exhibiting positive behaviors in one or more of the above areas, the coaches and parents will work together to redirect the athlete toward a more positive set of behaviors. If the athlete’s behaviors become disruptive or detrimental to the team or other members, it may result in the athlete’s dismissal from the team.

Terms of Service & Liability Agreement

This Terms of Service Agreement (“Agreement”) governs the terms by which registered members of Southeast Developmental Teams obtain the services provided by Southeast Developmental Teams, LLC (SDT) and formally accept the policies, procedures and assumption of risks and hereby absolve all rights to hold SDT liable for any injury, accident or death resulting from the associated activities within SDT’s services, or those that occur while participating with any teams or events associated with or sponsored by Southeast Developmental Teams, LLC. By signing the agreement at the end of the Athlete Registration, or otherwise signifying your acceptance, you accept this Agreement either for yourself or on behalf of your child and agree to be bound by its provisions. In this Agreement: (i) “you” or the “Client” means you, (ii) “Southeast Developmental Teams” or “SDT” means Southeast Developmental Teams, LLC. This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of Colorado.

1. REGISTRATION FEE(S). For applicable programs, you will be charged a one-time non-refundable registration fee for the applicable season. This fee covers administrative and partial equipment costs for the season.

2. FEES & PAYMENT POLICIES (a) Southeast Developmental Teams, LLC pre-payment of fees for all services rendered. Fees are due by or on the 1st of each month for programs that require monthly payments. Payment may be made online via the registration/payment portal. Cash or money order will not be accepted. Each monthly fee is the same fee rate regardless of number of weeks in that month, or scheduled holidays. Tuition is not prorated for missed practices or snow days. A credit/debit card must be kept on file throughout the year to cover any past due tuition or other incidentals. (b) Late Fee. After the 10th of the month, your account will be considered in default, and a late fee of $19 will be assessed to your account. Both your monthly fee and the $19 late fee will be charged to your credit card on file. (c) Returned checks are charged $25 per item. After two offenses, the client will not be able to make payments via checks, and will be required to use online payment for all future transactions. (d) Credit Card Declines. If your credit card declines, you will receive a courtesy call and e-mail to resolve the payment situation. After a second offense, you will be responsible for an administrative late fee of $19 for the interruption. After three offenses, you will be required to place another credit card on file. (e) Cancellation of Service. To discontinue service, cancel participation, and/or stop fee charges you must provide SDT with a two week notice via phone call or in person meeting. Payment of any outstanding equipment will be required at the time of termination. Failure to attend practice does not release you from your contractual agreement with SDT. IF YOU FAIL TO FOLLOW THIS PROCEDURE, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL FEES, late fees and any and all outstanding balances until such notice is given as outlined above. (f) Refunds/Exchanges. SDT is unable to refund or credit fees, equipment, or registration fees. (g) Credit Card On File. SDT requires a credit card on-file to be used if the client defaults on payment. (h) Payment Default. SDT never shares confidential or financial information with a child or athlete, or another client, unless written or verbal consent is given to us to do so. However, if a client is in default of more than 30 days, SDT has the right to withhold service, equipment or other products to the athlete. (i) Collections. The client is responsible for all fees and SDT administrative and attorney fees accumulated on behalf of SDT to collect payment due. If no communication is made on the behalf of the client in default, the account will be turned over to collections and claims court.

3. COMMUNICATIONS (a) SDT will communicate with athletes and parents on a regular basis via e-mails, the Band app, the website, and calendar hand-outs. The SDT Website and Band account will post important information concerning calendars, schedules, cancellations and holidays. Practice cancellations due to snow days, emergencies, holidays, etc. will also be communicated via e-mail. SDT will follow all school closures, holidays, and snow days of the Cherry Creek School District.

(b) CODE OF CONDUCT (a) SDT is committed to the complete development of the student-athlete and views the parent-athlete-coach relationship as a partnership all with a common goal and mission. Together all parties must agree to follow a Code of Conduct: 1) Be respectful to all athletes, coaches, and parents. 2) Display upstanding character and work ethic as a member of a SDT team, student at your school, and member of the community. 3) Show spirit for your school and team. 4) Keep communication positive. 5) No Tolerance Policy. SDT has a “no-tolerance” policy in which the coach will immediately address any concerns of bullying, complaining, gossip or talking down of other athletes, other schools, other teams, or each other via a direct phone call or in-person meeting with the parent(s) and athlete(s) of concern. Parents and athletes are responsible to report any concerns to the coaches and/or SDT owner. SDT’s number one priority is safety, which includes the physical and emotional safety of all athletes, including healthy relationships amongst their teammates. Any parent or athlete that represents negative action, physical threat or harm, or an unhealthy attitude in which the coaches see as a harm to the program’s environment, reputation or emotional harm to other athletes and parents, will be dismissed from the program. (c) Practice Behavior Policy. I understand and agree that if my child is disruptive, disrespectful and/or causing harm to themselves or others, they will be released to the parent for the duration of that practice. After two occurrences, it is my responsibility to schedule an appointment with the coach(es) to resolve behavioral issues with a plan of action. If the behavior continues, SDT has the right to remove the athlete from the program.

4. ATTENDANCE, TARDINESS & INCLEMENT WEATHER (a) Attendance is crucial in youth sports development and training. SDT‘s fees are based on athlete registration in the program whether absent or present. If an athlete is going to miss a practice for whatever reason, it is the parent’s responsibility to email the coach so that they are alerted of the absence. Due to the emphasis on commitment to team, more than 3 absences in a session may result in athletes being removed from the team or program. (b) Tardiness is disruptive to the team environment and can cause safety concerns for the athlete due to the importance of warming up. If an athlete is habitually tardy, the coach will first have a conversation with the athlete and parent, followed by potential removal from games/performances/competitions. Athletes who will be tardy should notify the coach(es) via phone call or text message informing them of the tardy. (c) Class cancellations due to inclement weather will be posted on the SDT website 45 minutes prior to a class/practice start time and messages will be sent out via e-mail, Band, and Instagram. If Cherry Creek Schools are closed due to inclement weather, all SDT practices will be cancelled for that day. SDT does not refund tuition due to inclement weather, or other acts of severe nature that cannot be avoided.

5. DRESS CODE, PROGRAM RULES & TEAM PLACEMENTS (a) Dress Code: All athletes must wear athletic wear that is specific to their sport as outlined by their individual coaches. (b) General Rules: No food, gum or drinks other than a water bottle are permitted during practices. Athletes may bring a snack to eat outside of the practice area if need be. Students are to respect the practice space and school environment, and not leave trash or personal belongings on the floor or in the school hallways. Be on time. Athletes should arrive five minutes prior to practice with proper footwear and proper attire. PLEASE DO NOT be late picking your athlete up from practice. The SDT coaches and SDT managers are not responsible for supervising athletes after class/practice ends, nor if they leave the building on their own. It is SDT’s procedure that we are responsible for athletes only inside the practice space for instruction/practice time, and not liable for the athlete once their practice has finished. Parents arriving late to pick up a child on a consistent basis may be subject to dismissal. If an athlete is not picked up at least 10 minutes following practice, and a coach is held there to wait with the student, then the parent of that athlete will be billed a rate of $10 for every ten minutes after hours. (c) SDT coaches are experienced professionals and will make the correct decision and recommendation for each athlete’s team placement (when applicable). The ultimate goal is to provide growth and development for all athletes. Parents and athletes are always welcome to meet with the coaches to set goals to work toward a higher level of competition.

6. GAME, PERFORMANCE, AND COMPETITION PARTICIPATION (a) All athletes are guaranteed to perform in games, performances, and competitions as they relate to their sport. Habitual absences or tardies may result in the removal of athletes from games, performances, and competitions. Uniform and equipment fees are included in the monthly fees. Failure to submit payments and/or early termination of the season will result in athletes being withheld equipment and/or participation in games, competitions, and performances.
